Breast Implants (Breast Augmentation)

This is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures worldwide. It involves the use of breast implants to increase the size of the breast, either to enhance volume or as a restorative treatment for those who have undergone a mastectomy. It uses either silicone or saline breast implants. Although in some cases, fat grafts may also be used, but it’s effect doesn’t last that long.

Breast augmentation does not correct severely drooped or lift sagging breasts. What it does is increase fullness and projection of the breasts, improve your figure and enhance your self-image and confidence. This procedure can be done together with a breast lift.

Breast Uplift

Some women experience breast sagging after having a baby, breastfeeding or because of old age. To make the breasts appear perkier and youthful-looking, a breast lift is an appropriate treatment. It raises and firms up the breasts and requires repositioning of the nipple higher on the chest wall. The procedure can be done in an operating room or as an outpatient procedure. It involves the removal of excess or stretched out skin and some fat tissues, then the remaining skin is sutured to be firmer and more upright.

Breast lift is also included in a group of treatments that are often requested by moms, called mommy makeovers. Usually, this is done together with a breast augmentation surgery for better results.

Inverted Nipple Correction

Inverted nipples are actually quite common, but not all women are open with  this concern. This can be rather embarassing, and it can make your chest look odd especially when only one nipple becomes inverted. Unless it is caused by certain medical conditions, there are available cosmetic treatments for this dilemma.

There are several approaches to inverted nipple correction procedure. In previous practices, most doctors sever the milk ducts to release the nipple. However, this was seen to be damaging as it eliminates the woman’s ability to breastfeed later on. Today, a new technique is used, which involves making a small incision on the areola and spreading or stretching the fibers in the breast.

Gynecomastia Surgery (Male Breast Reduction)

This procedure is done on males who develop female breasts in a condition called gynecomastia surgery, more popularly known as man boobs. It involves creating an incision through which the doctor excises breast tissue and some fat tissues to flatten out the chest. In some cases, the doctor will also use liposuction to extensively remove fats. A compression garment may have to be worn for weeks to avoid swelling and to maintain the flattened form of the chest.

Proper evaluation will be done to see if you are a good candidate for the procedure. This is because some patients, particularly adolescent males, grow out of it after their hormones stabilizes once they are past puberty.
