Removal and Replacement of Breast Implants
Breast Enlargement (Augmentation) is without doubt one being the most popular cosmetic procedure and truth be known there are thousands of woman undergoing the surgery every year and there are a number of reasons why women may choose to have their implants changed or removed.
Women may find that their breasts look different following weight changes, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Other women may no longer be happy with the size they originally chose or the age of their implants. There are also some women who simply want to replace their implants while others prefer to remove it altogether.
During your consultation with your surgeon, you will have the opportunity to spend as long as you like discussing the changes what you would like to achieve. This will give you the best possible idea of how you can expect your breasts to look after the replacement or removal of your implants.
Quality time at your consultation is important, and it explains why so many patients recommend the team at Esteem Cosmetic Studio.
If you are having your implants replaced, your surgeon will discuss the alternatives available. We recommend that you bring along your implant ID card which contains details of the implants you currently have. A copy of your primary surgery operation note will also be helpful. If you have neither of those, there is no need to worry.
The procedure itself is done under general anaesthetic, whilst you are asleep, and it takes about 60-90 minutes.
Your surgeon will make a discreet incision usually using your old scar. There are a number of different techniques that your surgeon will discuss with you at your consultation, and from there, he will decide which is best for you. Depending on how much your breasts have changed, your surgeon may recommend combining the procedure with a breast lift, also known as a Mastopexy.
The type of result you can expect and any risks involved will be discussed with you by your dedicated surgeon.
