One of the most commonly asked questions with regards to breast augmentation is ‘Am I too old?’ The answer is a resounding ‘no!’ and here’s why.

Many women looking to undergo a breast augmentation will understandably have a whole list a questions whirling around their head with regards to the procedure, and one of the queries at the very forefront of their minds is often, ‘Am I just too old for this?’

This perhaps largely because getting a boob job is seen as a younger woman’s game, with a growing number of teenage girls and females in their mid-20s going under the knife.

Indeed, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, some 290, 224 American women underwent breast augmentation in 2013, the majority of them aged 20-39. Even so, that doesn’t mean that the older lady has to sit back and watch the younger generation have all the fun.

The truth is, you’re never too old for the procedure – and here’s why:

Older women could need it more!

Gravity starts to continually pull down on us from the moment we are born, never once letting up. Our bodies bear a large brunt of this – breasts, bellies and behinds all begin to sag, and this is a factor that affects everyone. However, it’s not just the relentless effects of gravity that are the scourge of older women – there are many life-changing events that could affect her shape.

The truth is, you’re never too old for the procedure.

Motherhood alone can take its toll on the breasts in all manner of different ways. The onset of pregnancy can markedly change the shape of your breasts, as can breast-feeding. If you were to have more than one child, this can only alter the shape even more.

What’s more, as women age, they are more likely to have suffered some form of breast trauma than a younger female. This could be down to a whole range of factors, but the sad facts of the matter are that one in eight Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, should she live to 85. Additionally, some 75 per cent of new diagnoses are in women over 50, according to GenRe.

Go for it!

If your general health is in fine fettle, there is absolutely no reason why you should not consider breast augmentation. There are women in their 50’s, 60’s and beyond that see incredible transformations when they come out the other side.

Not only can it correct the imperfections that our girls may endure as life progresses, but it can also deliver a timely confidence boost when we reach an age where we need a little extra help to look our best.
